Parents urged to compare extra child seat costs

Parents planning to hire a car when they travel may end up paying more than they need to for baby and child seats, experts say. Parents should compare the additional cost of renting child seats before booking. Gareth Robinson, advised: “Child and baby car seats are a legal requirement in many countries, but the additional charges made to the booking can vary significantly.

“All parents want to ensure their children have the right seats, from both a safety and a legal point of view. However, the cost shouldn’t be overlooked.”

To save money, parents may find that choosing a different car rental company or buying a car seat on arrival at their destination could work out cheaper.

UK law requires children travelling in cars to be fitted with the correct child seat restraint until they reach 135cm in height or 12 years old.
